(SETH WENIG/AP) Suicide rates among teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are at an all-time high in the last 40 years, according to the latest data from the National Center for Health Statistics. Further, suicide rates doubled among teenage girls and grew by more than 30 percent for teenage boys in this age group between 2007 and 2015, the research finds. The researchers derived suicide rates from official death certificates' data between 1975 and 2015. While the rate of suicide for males in 2015 was still lower than its peak in the mid-1990s, both teenage boys and girls' suicide rates grew between 2007 and 2015 after a steady decline since then. The reason behind this is how the current generation was taught by the elders. They were born in a generation, where it's okay to tease and abuse weaker people. With this kind of thinking, most people would just give up and resort to suicide. Adding into that, authorities tend to ignore suicide attempts by depressed people. They don't give the event any seriousness, which adds salt to the injury. We should all work together to help avoid any more situations like this.
