Danburite Properties Danburite may look like quartz, but it is far rarer, and its prismatic crystals are really more like colourless topaz in structure. In addition to its beautiful natural prism shape, danburite has certain properties that have helped it gain popularity mainly in the jewellery community since its discovery. Danburite was first discovered in 1839, in the city of Danbury in Connecticut, which is where it derives its name from.
