We’ve all been there…

You follow your diet religiously for a week and then break it with a weekend binge. You commit to working out more, hit the gym for two days, and then struggle to get off the couch after a long day of work. You set a vision for your career and get excited by the possibilities, only to get dragged down in everyday responsibilities and not return to your dream until months later.

I’ve been there too, but as time rolls on I’m beginning to realize something important:
These small hiccups don’t make you a failure, they make you human. The most successful people in the world slip up on their habits too. What separates them isn’t their willpower or motivation, it’s their ability to get back on track quickly.

There will always be instances when following your regular routine is basically impossible. You don’t need superhuman willpower, you just need strategies that can pull you back on track. Habit formation hinges on your ability to bounce back.

With that said, here are seven strategies that you can use to get back on track and bounce back right now…

10 Ways to Lower Your Cholesterol Naturally by HealthPartners (www.healthpartners.com)

First of all, what is cholesterol? Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that our bodies need to build healthy cells. Although it often gets a bad rap (and too much can be dangerous), the truth is that our bodies simply couldn’t function without cholesterol.

Not all cholesterol is the same. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) – or “bad cholesterol” – can make plaque in your arteries, putting you at risk for hardened arteries (atherosclerosis), heart disease, vascular issues and more. On the other hand, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) – “good cholesterol” – actually helps remove that bad cholesterol from your bloodstream.

If you have high cholesterol levels, it usually means that you have too much LDL and not enough HDL. High cholesterol levels affect around one in every three Americans. But there are changes you can make today to help lower your LDL and increase your HDL.

Lifestyle changes to lower your cholesterol

Here are ten things you can do to lower cholesterol without the use of medication, including foods that lower cholesterol, light exercise ideas and more.

4 Ways to Stay Focused and Get Stuff Done by Emilio Esposito (www.evernote.com)

You grab a cup of coffee, turn on your laptop, and take a deep breath; it’s time to focus. You open a blank note to start writing a project plan, and rather than wrapping up a first draft in the usual hour or two, you find yourself on social media, checking your phone, or simply zoning out.

If you’re distracted by the current newscycle, adapting to working in a new place (or working from home for the first time!), or trying to calm your worries, it can feel impossible to concentrate on work. But the goal in times of uncertainty isn’t to match your peak productivity levels. Instead, it’s about finding pockets throughout the day that are more conducive to focusing, and gradually reducing distractions.

Here are four ways to stay on task and get your work done.

Can Dietary Supplements Help With Weight Loss? by Stacey Pence, MPH, RD, LD (www.wexnermedical.osu.edu)

Can dietary supplements help with weight loss? Before investing your time and money in these products, it’s important to understand that no supplement to date can erase poor dietary choices or lack of physical activity. When my patients ask me about supplements for weight loss, I explain that there’s no good substitute for portion control and exercise. Any effects that supplements have on the amount of calories you burn or the way you metabolize fat are minimal and most don’t have enough reliable scientific evidence to prove their effectiveness.

Here, I’ve reviewed six of the most commonly used supplements, how they work, if they’re effective and possible side effects of each. As with all supplements, there are potential drug nutrient interactions. Before taking any dietary or herbal supplement, talk to your doctor and registered dietitian.

Giving 100% means you never have to walk away from a relationship, job, challenge, or goal with any regrets. These 3 approaches gift you with a game-winning plan for giving your all.

One of the most surprising aspects to giving your all is your ability to properly manage when you won’t give at all. Saying ‘No’ is the outside expression of an inner decision to take personal responsibility for living a life of abundance, passion, and purpose. When you begin to delete items from your to-do list that aren’t aligned with your aspirations, you open up quality time for the ones that are.

Here’s the great news: People who allow themselves to say ‘No’ to certain requests that take advantage of their good nature or limit their ability to get the work done on their objectives are much more likely to succeed.

Weight loss is hard stuff. I’ll never be the person who drops a ton of weight and suddenly forgets how difficult it was to get there.
