I hear criticisms all day long. Statements made to express how technology has ruined society. “People don’t read any more.” “Kids don’t play outside.” And for a long time, I agreed. It seemed as though people were more concerned with how many friends they had on Facebook rather than making time to see family, and getting lost in a web of senseless internet browsing rather than getting lost in a good book. I hear it from my mom all the time; “All you do is Instagram.” And yes instagram is a verb. This isn’t true of course, but what a difference it is when compared to a time where you could only make calls to a landline and hope the person was home because there was no caller ID or call forwarding. There are positives and negatives to every situation but I prefer to extract the good and minimize the bad. The way to do this is to see the way a tool can help you and be aware of how it can deter you so that you can use it to its maximum potential. The most valuable asset to get you where you need to be could be right at your fingertips.
